NesscoInvsat Telecommunications (NesscoInvsat) has been awarded another contract to provide communications for Brazilian state-run oil company, Petrobras. The Aberdeen-based systems integrator has secured a multi-million dollar turnkey package for the Mexilhão 1 (PMXL-1) platform from the EPC contractor Mauá Jurong, a Synergy Group - Jurong Shipyard (Singapore) joint venture. This latest project will involve the design and build of an integrated telecommunications infrastructure including; PABX, radio comms and GMDSS, an active repeater for the UHF system, PA system, telephone network, satellite antennas for communications and TV reception, as well as a back-up power system for a number of the solutions. Installation and commissioning will take place at Mauá Jurong's shipyard in Rio de Janeiro. Tom Smith, Managing Director of NesscoInvsat, commented; "Mauá Jurong and Petrobras have once again placed their faith in NesscoInvsat and this is clearly a testimony to the excellent working relationships we have forged over our many years working in the region. Our Brazilian partners have helped provide a strong lynchpin between the state oil company and ourselves. Their in-country assistance and support ensures the smoothest implementation in a demanding environment". The Mexilhão Gas Field is located in the Santos Basin region, offshore São Paulo and is the largest discovered by Petrobras to date. At 230m in height, the PMXL-1 platform will be the largest offshore metallic structure ever erected in Brazilian waters. It will feature production and treatment capacity for approximately 15 million cubic meters of gas per day, in addition to 3,200m3 of condensate daily.
