The SARUS non-EX crane radio has been specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of the Crane Operator, resulting in a system that incorporates a number of innovative and “user friendly” features to meet the installation, operational and maintenance aspects required. Operating on both VHF and UHF frequency bands, and with up to 255 channels each, operators can stay in contact with both maritime users and internal rig personnel without sacrificing safety. Because of the limited space available in the cab, the SARUS has been designed to eliminate the need for bulky equipment near the operator. The main unit of the system can in installed in an unused space up to six meters away from the operator and with an IP rating of 66, it can even be fitted externally if required. The operator controls both UHF and VHF transmissions on just one extremely compact control panel, alternating between the two simply by flicking a switch, and depressing the footswitch to talk. Incoming transmissions are heard through the powerful but clear 13w speaker.
